Welcome to Monroe Community College's Green IT Campus Model Wiki

Green Information Technology (Green IT) is more than just powering down equipment. IT can play a substantive role in campus sustainability planning and initiatives. The purpose of this site is to share research, generate discussion and identify best practices on the roles that information technology plays in campus sustainability projects.  A "Green IT Campus Model" developed by Monroe Community College (MCC) in Rochester, New York, provides a starting point for discussion.

Visitors to the site are invited to review the information and are encouraged to:

  • Share comments

  • Add links and resources

  • Contribute best practices to the model

  • Recommend Green IT AASHE survey questions
  • Review Green IT tips

Your feedback will be used by MCC to inform and revise the MCCs Green IT Campus Model so that it can become a peer-reviewed framework suitable for replication at other institutions.

The wiki includes eight areas accessible through the SideBar links on the upper right hand side of the page: 1) front page/welcome, 2) background on MCC Green IT, 3) resources on campus sustainability and Green IT, 4) MCC's Green IT Campus Model framework, 5) Green IT survey question recommendations, 6) Green IT tips to consider for inclusion in the model, 7) a related article, The Greening of IT, and 8) a free form page for visitors to share their overall comments.

This site is maintained and managed by the Office of the Vice President, Educational Technology Services (ETS), Monroe Community College, Rochester, New York.
